It's very disappointing that library environment is very noisy and there
are no measures to keep it professional. I am aware that there are quite
areas but there are even study group areas which students should take into
consideration.
Students play music in the library just because there is an availability of
silent area to study for the genuine student who sincerely wants to study
and focus.
There are measures to indicate that no food is allowed in the library, but
there are no signs of maintaining ethics of the library.
- students talk loudly on their phones.
- students play music when they want to.
- students study in a group, while others are trying to make maximum use of
the library to study.
If these students who create such environment are being corrected, they
take a liberty to show directions to the silent area and forget what
library is meant for.
Hope this email does solve the issues that are happening in the library
specifically on the third floor.
Thank you for raising your concerns. This time of year is when everyone's personal learning style seems to conflict with everyone else's. Fortunately Luton Campus Library has a full range of study environments to - hopefully - suit all our students.
The floor you have chosen to study on is one of the social study floors. Inevitably this floor (and the floors below) are going to be noisy.
I would strongly advise you to go up a floor or two and study on level 4, 5 or 6 which would suit you better. If you still find the open areas on these floors too noisy you can choose to study in the silent study rooms which are monitored.
