Document Supply

I am a third-year midwifery student and I have been searching for the above title, for help with a current unit of work. It does not appear to be in our library catalogue, and I wondered if the library could purchase a copy - hard copy or E-book?

If not, it's not a problem as I am happy to purchase a copy myself, but we have recently been made aware that if we are unable to find a resource in the library catalogue that we can ask.

We said:

Thank you for your enquiry. As a final year undergraduate you have limited use of the University’s Document Supply service. Details are here:

Each underlined paragraph heading is a link to a PDF.

When you are ready complete the Book Request form linked from this page

You will be notified when the book is ready to collect

 Any queries please contact docsupply@beds.ac.uk

We said:

Thank you for your email. Please return your 5 loan items as soon as it is safe for you to do so after self-isolating.

I am a student at Queen Mary University of London and I am looking for a space to complete my studies. I would usually use the public library but unfortunately they have not opened their study areas.

Would it be possible for me to use your library facilities to study for a few hours a week for for about 5 weeks.

Visitor membership

I have been checking the LRC website since May 2021 and have been informed that the LRC is not open to visitors. Upon speaking to the staff at the LRC I was informed that they are not aware when the LRC will be open to visitors and that I should check the website. I have been checking the website for 6 months and no new update has been published.

I am a very hard working and studious person suffering from family problems hence am not able to study at home.

My father passed away last year and I am working two jobs and studying to become a doctor. My studies have been greatly affected because I cannot study in peace at the library and there is a lot of disturbance at home.

Please kindly review my request and please allow me access to use the LRC. Myu exams have started and I wish to gain access to library again.

I have been vaccinated and am fully fit.

I will be grateful for your consideration.

 I wait for your reply.

I am an A level student wondering if I might be allowed to use your library to study.

It would only be on Saturdays and Sundays, and I am only enquiring because the Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire libraries I would normally use do not allow people to sit in and study.  Furthermore, the Bedford libraries do not open on Sundays and I would like a place to go and work that is away from my household.

Visitor membership

I'm a postgraduate student but studying at Anglia Ruskin University London campus. However I live in a Luton and learn via online lectures. I'm looking to study at a library in the evenings or on a Sunday (mainly as I have children I need a quiet work area) and I was wondering if I was able to use Luton University library please?

All the public libraries in the area close early or aren't open on a Sunday, so thought worth a chance asking the question to see if there was a chance you could help me please?

Bedford Library opening hours

 You said:

Hi, I have some feedback about the Bedford Library and it's opening hours. I was just wondering if there were plans to extend the opening hours to be opened earlier than 830. As a 'mature' learner with children the library opening till later is great, but actually would make more sense if I could get into the library before 830am. The library seems to be the place that I am the most productive, and so I'm keen to get to the library before my lectures start to get a couple of hours worth of work in! I've spoken to a few of my peers who also think it would be beneficial if the library opened earlier. I'm aware that Luton are, or are moving to, a 24 hour service and just curious as to why this isn't an option for the Bedford campus. Many thanks

Thank you for your email. During the last academic year the library has been open on very restricted opening hours. Moving out of the pandemic it has given the University to review the opening hours offer and run a pilot year of opening to see if this fits the student needs. Thank you for your email. Part of your journey as an undergraduate is to learning how to do your own research.

May I suggest that you contact your Academic Liaison Librarian – David Abdy

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/studyhub-library/what-is-study-hub/study-hub-teams/alls/david-abdy

For some advice on how to research Dame Elizabeth Anionwu.

You may find some online help in the Adult Nursing Subject Guide

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/health/

You could start by searching the catalogue. To help you there is a guide in the A-Z list of resources. Just type Catalogue in the search box and you with get a PDF help sheet “Searching Effectively for Information”

Printing

 You said:

Im currently in the library and am having trouble finding the correct printer on the floor I am on. I am on the 2nd floor and have tried typing in the ID number, as well as tried accessing web print but have had no luck.

If you could please advise how I can connect to the printer.

We said:

Thank you for your enquiry

There is an issue with printing across the University at this time. If you log onto a PC on level 1 of the Luton Campus library and send your printing from there you can collect your printing as normal.

There is a customer service desk on level 1 of the library and you would get a quicker response to your queries by talking to staff there.

Automatic Renewals

 You said:

I have a book, ‘Public Health Nutrition’ by Gibney that is not automatically renewing.  The reason is because it has been renewed 47 times when only 20 renewals are allowed.  Do I need to come in to renew this again?  I have a few more that are likely to hit this threshold of 20 renewals soon so it would be good to know how to manage this.

We said:

Thank you for your enquiry. You have had “Public Health Nutrition” since 30.9.20 and it has been renewed 47 times. During the pandemic we extended the number of automatic renewals to support students

I have renewed the item for you. Please can you return it on or before 7.10.21

 Renewals

University of Bedfordshire operates an automatic renewals service unless the item is reserved by another customer. Your items will be renewed up to 25 times on your behalf.

  • please monitor your loans for any reservation recalls (you will get an email too via the library catalogue. You will need your student ID number and your library password to access your library account.
  • be sure to reserve any item currently on loan to ensure that the book you need is recalled
