Luton: Silent Study

i am fed up of trying to work at the library and never getting far... never any space in silent study, social space has turned into a circus with people messing around and so has the IT suite.... how difficult is it- if you dont want to work, then dont go to the library.... some of us want to work and are being prevented

First of all I would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this problem.
We take care to ensure that important matters such as this are properly managed and dealt with. I sympathise with your frustration and would like to offer the following information that may be useful to you.
As you know Luton has two Silent Study floors with 36 PCs on level 2 with a total of 112 study places and 10 PCs on level 3 with a total of 88 study places. These floors are rarely filled to capacity although I do understand the PC study spaces get filled up the quickest. You know you are welcome to bring your own laptop/tablet to use in the LRC and access the Student WiFi
Going to the Social Learning Space or the IT Suite as an alternative to the Silent floors I must say is destined to fail. By their very names you cannot expect them to quiet let alone silent areas. I would however suggest level 1 or 0 in the Park Street end of the LRC as a quiet alternative to the Silent floors.
We are hoping to introduce a PC booking system in 2014 to enable customers to book PCs in advance of their visit for when they want them. We are hoping this will help customers get the service they want when they need it.
I am sorry that on this occasion an acceptable standard has clearly not been met and we clearly have not succeeded in meeting your expectations. I hope the information included here will help make your next visit to the LRC a happier one.
