Luton: PCs in Silent areas

I really enjoy the fact that the library is open 24/7, but as technology develops and it becomes a graver part of our student life I would appreciate if there are more silent areas, where we could use PCs. I do realise that the university has lots of computers, but it also becomes crowder and crowder, therefore the 'quest' to find an available PC that is also in a quiet area becomes harder. Besides that the student life is great, the staff do an amazing job, and societies prosper. Thank you for that experience, and lets hope you would never stop progress!

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. We really appreciate customers telling us when things don't work for them. There are 36 PCs on level 2 - 6 in the study room - and 10 PCs on level 3 - 5 in the study room. PC use creates noise so it was a conscious decision to restrict the number of PCs on the Silent Floors. You are welcome to use your own laptop or tablet on the Silent Floors - they are noticeably quieter that desktop PCs - there are specific plug in power points available on every floor. If you cannot find any please ask staff on the Customer Service Desk (level 1) for help. You cannot plug your device into the the University network so please use WiFi if required.

We are hoping to bring in an on-line PC booking system in 2014. This will mean that you can book a PC in advance for when you need it. Please check the LR Web News section for details in the New Year
