Issue caused by students leaving library books as an acting reserve for logged off computers level 2 library
If books are left near a logged off PC this means someone is being untidy not that the PC is reserved for them. Stray books are gathered up by staff and re-shelved where necessary.
If someone has left personal belongings this is clearly not a safe thing to do and there is advice on LRWeb about this

If a PC is left logged on and unattended for more than 30 minutes (as observed by staff
patrols), the PC will be shut down by staff. Any items of personal property will be taken to Lost
Property at main reception. Open files will be saved where possible. It is not advisable to
leave a PC logged on and unattended for any reason. It is possible that someone (other than
University staff) will take your things and inappropriately access your personal data.
