I need to get SPSS on to my laptop. I was wondering if i can
do it from home or wheter i need to be there in person to have to get
it on my laptop?

you for your enquiry. You need a stable internet connection and you should be
able to install SPSS anywhere. SPSS is a huge file please read the instructions
here
then
