External Customers

You said

Can I renew now my membership to use library as an external user?

Please note that I will come library at off peak time like after 3 or 4 pm everyday. Even I will not use university book or internet. I will bring my laptop to use internet from my phone. I need just one place for self study.

It is very difficult to study from home.

Could you please allow me to use library after 4 pm to 7pm or 8pm just for three to four hours at late afternoon.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

We said

Thank you for your email.

The University of Bedfordshire is not allowing access to external customers at this time and, not accepting speculative applications to join.

Please follow our web page for advice if there are any changes

Digital library

 You said

I am trying to access article via my university login details. However, the portal has not been allowing me to access articles since yesterday.  Kindly look into issue and please try to sort this out ASAP. I am a final year PhD student. I need to search for articles on a daily basis. Please see the screenshot below of the same window that's showing every time I go for articles access.

We said

Thank you for your email. I am sorry that you have been experiencing difficulties. If you had checked your library account

https://brum.beds.ac.uk/patroninfo

(sign in with your University username and password) you will have seen that you had £177 bill for 6 very overdue items. This would block your access to the digital library.

In view of the pandemic I have waived the bill and renewed your items. You should be able to access digital resources now.

Your 6 books are due back 13.8.21 (7 day loans) & 20.8.21 (standard loans). As you have had them for over a year please return them as soon as possible. Our opening times are:

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/opening/ps-lrc/

Printing

 You said

Last time I emailed, I was informed printing wasn’t available yet. Hence, I was wondering if coloured printing is available now and if not when will it be? I was hoping to come into Uni next week for printing.

We said

Thank you for your email. Regrettably Microsoft are still trying to resolve this (internationally). There is no printing on campus at the moment

Please check library social media for updates

Book returns

You said

I'm graduating in a few weeks time and I still have books out from the library. I wanted to know when the deadline for returning them is please?

We said

Thank you for your email and congratulations on graduating

Please return you loan items at your soonest convenience. Try to get the books back by 10th September at the latest

Fine

 You said

I received the information I owe a small library fine. Please can you tell me where can I make the payment. Thank you.

We said

Thank you for contacting me. In view of the pandemic I have waived your fine

 You said

Are the printing services back working now on Luton campus yet?

We said

Thank you for your email. Printing still unavailable

Please keep an eye on the University’s social media for updates

Opening hours

 You said

I have been asked to contact to arrange a time to come into the library by one of my lectures as I am struggling to download a program on my mac and he has told me to come ask you as apparently you can help me get this downloaded as it is for an assignment that is due in on the 30th of July.

when is a good time to pop on campus to get the help I need to download it?

We said

Thank you for your email. You don’t say which campus you study at so in general I would say visit the library during staffed hours

At Luton from example, that would be Monday- Friday 8.30 – 18.00 Saturdays 10.15 – 17.30 and the Customer Service desk is on level 1

 https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/opening/

You could contact the Study Hub for remote help

Opening hours

 You said

I want to know what the opening hours are for the library and can students come in to do assignment work.

We said

Thank you for your email. Library opening times are displayed on the front page of the library website LRWeb.

Each campus has their own library opening hours pages

 https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/opening/ps-lrc/

I hope that helps if there’s anything else I can help you with please get back to me

Printing and Opening Hours

 You said

I wanted to come into the Library to print some stuff off and was wondering if coloured printing is still available? Also, which entrance do I use to enter the library - and is a COVID test needed to come to to the library. And is the Library open everyday and which times?

 Please let me know.

We said

Many thanks for your email. You may use the library at anytime during opening hours as long as you wear face covering maintain social distancing and wash your hands regularly

 Opening hours are here

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/opening/ps-lrc/

 Regarding printing however

There is no printing available anywhere on campus at the moment. Please check again on Wednesday 7th

ID card

 You said

I didn't get my student id card yet so, can I access to the library physically or first I have to get my card? . I applied for card about 3 weeks ago and still yet didn't get it because of that I cannot have access to the library. Please issue me student card so that I can access to the library.

We said

I have checked with ID production and your ID will be posted to you today

Please ensure you have the correct postal address on eVision

Print credit refund

 You said

Please could I request a refund on my print credit, I have about £70 left which I couldn't use due to remote learning throughout covid 19,

We said

Thank you for your email. I have investigated your account and have noted that you  had print credit bursary payments in 2018 2019 and 2020 at £50 per year.

There is no balance in the cash purse as you have not paid for any print credits yourself. The bursary has no monetary value. You are not therefore eligible for any refund.

Book returns

 You said

I can see online that the library is closed. Could you please advise when will be best to return them to the Luton campus, please?

 Thank you in advance.

We said

Thank you for your email I am confused as to why you think the University of Bedfordshire libraries are closed. Bedford and Luton have been open since September 2020 joined by Aylesbury and Milton Keynes in January 2021.

 Opening hours are here:

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/opening/

 Hope that helps

Book returns

 You said

I’ve previously been in contract about the issues I’m having regarding getting my books back to campus. I still have them in my cupboard and I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to travel back to Bedford as I don’t live locally to return them. I was trying for renew them but it won’t let me anymore. However I am currently isolating as I have been contacted by track and trace. Place can someone wipe the fines and renew my books and I’ll come and return them when my isolation period is up?

We said

Thank you for your email. Some of your books were due back 11.5.21 and some 15.6.21 I have renewed all these titles and removed the fines

I am guessing your isolation will have ended by 28.6.21 so please be sure to return all your loans then. Here’s a note of the library opening hours for your convenience. Please remember to wear a face covering and observe social distancing

Library account and Eduroam

 You said

I am having problems with accessing the library facilities as i do not have a login details can you please help me.

We said

Thank you for your email I am sorry that you are experiencing difficulties.

First a few questions

How long have you had your ID card?  it takes up to 48 hours for your accounts to be created

If you have fully registered and are awaiting the arrival of your id has it been 48 hours?

 Secondly

You library account is created automatically and you use the same log on details

Username and password

that you use for BREO

 https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/using-the-library/regforserv/

 I hope that helps

Eduroam

 You said

Please could I have an account for EDUROAM wifi created for me?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry. You automatically get an Eduroam account on registering with the University.

You need to authenticate your devices on campus to make it work for you.

If you wish to use Eduroam - a wifi service which allows you to access the internet at participating UK institutions outside the University of Bedfordshire - the quickest way is to authenticate when you are on Campus

Print Credit Refunds

You said

I wanted to know where it is possible to reimburse my credit on student I'd. As I no longer need to use the library I wanted have my money back to my bank account.

I tried to contact on the library number but didn't get any response back.

Therefore, it would be great to have any solution to this problem.

We Said

Thank you for your email. May I refer you to the University’s Print Credit terms and conditions

https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/pcs-printing-software/printing/terms/

 Refund Policy

Refunds for print credits are not normally given.
If there has been a genuine mistake a refund, at the discretion of management on a case by case basis may be possible. In the first instance please see a member of library staff at one of the Customer Service desks

As I understand it you are requesting a refund and no mistakes have been made. Looking at your print credit account you have £3.42 outstanding. I have to advise you that this money will not be refunded
