Library needs air-con in presentation rooms and the presentation room computers stopped working in January, but they still need to be fixed and now it's April.
Thank you for raising your concerns. You will agree that this weekend's temperatures were unseasonably high. None the less our building management system was experiencing a few problems with the chillers which resulted in some areas of the library becoming very uncomfortable.
Staff were keeping records of temperatures and students were advised to keep doors open and keep hydrated. The problem was help desked and is being addressed.
I hope you found an alternative space to study
The University is having trouble sourcing a part for one of the consoles in the Presentation Rooms hence the delay in getting them fixed. The problem is being addressed but unfortunately there isn't a quick solution.

Library PC screen notifications
The Tell Us Survey for the use of the library appears every 30minutes on the library computer screens although this has already been completed. It is highly distracting and frustrating when working to deadlines and this appears constantly. I feel this could be better advertised as to not disrupt students during their work.
Thank you for raising your concerns I apologise for the irritation caused by our on-screen messaging. May I check with you did you click the box to say you'd "read" the message. Completing the survey (thank you) does not stop the messages from appearing as they are not on the same system. This is a new service and we're trying to get the levels of engagement correct.

I'm afraid fans would not help in a situation like this as they would only move hot air around.

Luton Library Sunday library temperature
Library becomes very hot and stuffy in the warmer weather and no ability to turn down heating/open windows etc. Group rooms especially are unbearably hot, with 29 degrees showing on wall thermometer today. We have therefore been unable to study in the rooms we had planned and booked due to the heat.

Luton Library Study Environment
The floor and the table are too dirty and untidy, which affects the mood of learning. Can you clean the slience room and other public place? please! Thank you.
Thank you for raising your concerns. The library has a cleaning programme to maintain the study environment and it has a code of conduct to guide customers as to what is regarded as acceptable behaviours.
Click on the code of conduct link on this webpage
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/using-the-library/sanctions
This joint respect should keep the library in excellent condition. Unfortunately there are a few customers who do not take these requirements seriously. There are sanctions in place where necessary

Book A PC
Bedford Library - I had booked a pc for use on 13/4/18 but had to seek assistance locating the pc booked. The labels with the long serial numbers are very small and make locating the right pc difficult, it took 20 mins of looking at each computer before I located the right pc.
Thank you for raising your concerns I will investigate whether its possible to label the booking form and PCs more clearly

Reservations
Please could you tell me how long it takes for books that have been requested to get to another campus please? I live nearer Milton Keynes then Luton so yesterday I ordered a few publications to go to the Milton Keynes Campus.
Thanks for your enquiry. Its very difficult for me to estimate the
answer to your question. If the items are “AVAILABLE” at their home Campus you
are advised to allow up to 3 week-days for the books to arrive. They usually
arrive quicker than 3 days but please allow a maximum of 3

I hope that helps

Digital Library issues
I am trying to access the Modern Language Journal from the
digital library but the URL is broken. I can't follow the top link for full
text as it does not have the latest issues and I want to read a paper from
2016. When I click on the URL I get a proxy server error. Please help
We have a known problem accessing
content from Wiley at the moment (https://bedsdigital.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/proxy-error-problems.html)
so we are having to use an alternative access route – please follow this
link
Log in with your usual UoB details,
look for Browse / All issues and select the year you need.
Password change
I am having issues
with logging into the university computer as it keeps saying this as shown
below. How do I reset my password?
Thank you for your enquiry. You should have had an email in your
University Google email account advising you on how to change your password
follow the link to
password.beds.ac.uk
and follow the on-screen instructions
Sconul Access
I'm a student at Swansea university and I am using the Sconul
access scheme. I was wondering if it is possible for me to withdraw books from
Bedford University library? I have tried to use the self-service machines but
these require a pin for my account which I do not know.
Thank you for your enquiry. Your
membership category with the Sconul Access scheme will indicate whether you are
eligible for loans. According to Swansea you are eligible for Reference
membership only. I regret to inform you that you may not borrow materials from
the University of Bedfordshire.
Renewals
I took a book out and I think it will need renewing soon,
however I won’t be back in uni until after Easter now. Will that be ok?
Thank you for your enquiry. You can check your loan items
and when they're due back on line
Click on the Library/LRC link in red then sign in with
your usual university user name and password on the Blue Renewals tab on this
page
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/using-the-library/loans,-renewals-and-reservations/regforserv
You can also renew the item on line or by phone, you don't
have to be on Campus to renew your books
Luton Library heating
Is there any way to turn the
heating up in the study rooms (29.3.18)?
Thank you for your enquiry
I am sorry but there was a problem with heating over the Easter weekend.
There was supplementary heating on levels 2 & 4. There was a tweet advising
students about this
MPORTANT NOTICE:
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the heating in Luton Library will be OFF from Thursday 29 March to Tuesday 4 April. Heaters will be available on floors 2 and 4. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Sconul Access
I am a student at the
University of Southampton but am from Luton and would like to work at the
Bedfordshire University Luton library next week. I have signed up to and been
accepted for the SCONUL Access. I have had a look on your
website and it is unclear whether I can just turn up and work in the library or
whether I have to register face to face then wait 10 days to get a pass. This
wouldn’t be very useful for me as I need to access the facilities next week.
Please let me know what I can do.
Thank you for your enquiry
Access is via membership card only. Sconul
Access visitors require a University of Bedfordshire library membership card
and so you need to follow our process. I am sorry if its too late for Easter
but if you might need access over the summer or later in your course it is
still worth progressing an application. Details are on our website. Please note
as stated on our website
Any applications received after 4.4.18
take 7 – 10 working days to process

Visitor membership
I am a student at Durham university home for the holidays
and am wondering whether I would be able to visit your library to study over
the upcoming Easter bank holiday dates? Could you please let me know whether
the library at the Luton campus will be open to visitors on Friday 30th-Monday
2nd.
Thank you very much for your help.
Thank you for your enquiry. Access is via membership card only. We have
Visitor membership (which includes Sconul Access) which allows access to the
library. Details are on our website. If you are eligible to use Sconul Access I
would advise that route
Please note as stated on our website
Please note: applications received 24 March - 4 April 2018 will not be
processed until 16 April (at the latest).

Visitor
hi there, i was in a library yesterday, i am not sure if i am allowed back in as i am learning distance learning student.. think lady told me maybe after easter she will process everything.. but was just wondering if it was possible if i could come back in or wait till easter finished.
Many thanks for your enquiry
As you are not a University of
Bedfordshire student you need to apply for Visitor membership. If you are
eligible for Sconul Access membership you need to apply and wait for your
membership card. If you have not applied I strongly advise you to submit an
application
You may not enter until you have a
valid membership card
Digital Access
I am a UoB
graduate and I wanted to access some journals from
the digital library. I was able to do so a couple of months ago, but I cannot
seem to do so now. I am not sure if it is because I have forgotten my password
or if it because the regulations have changed. Your assistance in this matter
would be greatly appreciated.
Many
thanks for your enquiry.

digital materials on Campus via your own mobile device (ie laptop or tablet)
using the guest wifi. This is the list of available products
If
you wish to join the library on a Reference basis this is free to Alumni and
takes about 7 -10 working days (on receipt of the correctly completed
application form and photo) to process.
Details
of Alumnus membership and link to application form (print off and complete)

Visitor access to digital resources
I am writing to know if it is possible to keep my access to
the online material open after my fixed-term contract ends with UoB. I inquired
HR about this and they advised me to contact the library.
Many thanks for your enquiry
No visitor members of the
University library may have remote (ie off campus access) to any of the
University’s digital products due to licencing restrictions. If you join as a

Visitor membership renewal
I had been asked by the security guard to inform you that
my card has expired and to ask you if you could renew it. I have completed a
form and left it with the security guard. I would be MOST GRATEFUL if you could
renew my card quickly seeing as I have a lot of work to do and need your
library.
I assure you that I would have asked for a renewal
earlier, however, over a month ago I spoke to one of your staff members who
told me that I had a 3 month concession on my card which allowed me access to
the library after my card expired (expired today). The security guard told me
that that privilege was only for students and not aluminis.
I eagerly look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your enquiry
As stated on our web pages
Please note: applications received 24 March - 4 April
2018 will not be processed until 16 April (at the latest).
We will process your renewal as soon as possible but I
cannot guarantee that it will be done before 16 April
