Printing

I was hoping you could potentially help me with regards to printing my dissertation. I'm near an end and I would just like to know some information;
Where can I print on campus?
How much does the process cost?
Are there seletive versions of quality or just one generic print?

You can print in the LRC – details here

If you want to choose paper quality etc I would suggest you use reprographics. If you’re on the Luton Campus you could go to Albert Road. Or you could choose to use their Print shop online storefront

Most Print shop services can be accessed at our new online Print shop. You can register for the service at

http://printshop.beds.ac.uk

Once registered you can upload files, receive online quotes and electronic proofs before submitting your work for print. For more information please contact the Print shop on

01582 521421

or pick up a leaflet from the Copy shop at H002 or the Print shop in Albert Road.

We can print your posters and mount onto 5mm foam board.

Files for print may also be emailed to crepro@beds.ac.uk when using this address please call the print room to alert them you have sent a job if it is urgent.

Book Loans

I really think that university should consider in allow students take more books out from the library, specially 3rd year students.

Thank you for letting me know your suggestion regarding book loans. The number of books available to borrow at a time is constantly under review. I will ensure that your request is discussed by Learning Resources' managers

Sconul Access

I'm currently studying at Northumbria University and saw on your website that it may be possible for students from other universities to use your resources.

I have seen the SCONUL access form, which I would like to fill out if I am eligible to use the library. So I'd be hugely grateful if you could let me know whether I am eligible to utilise the library and withdraw books from it. If so I will go ahead with filling in the SCONUL access form.

Thank you for your enquiry. You need to  talk to Northumbria’s library staff. They will give you details on signing up for Sconul Access. I cannot do this you need to contact your home University. This is a free scheme where the members allow external students to have access to a range of services starting with reference/study space.

Once you have the authorising email from Sconul Access follow our external customer process here

Bedford Library Study Environment

I am currently on the second floor, the silent area. However, I have been unable to do any work because of the continuous loud talking among individuals.

The librarian tells them to stop, but then they continue. Perhaps something more should be done since I am unable to do any work done.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. If you reported noise on the Silent Floor a member of staff will give one verbal warning and then issue Written Warning for any subsequent breaches of the Code of Conduct. Our Three Strike range of sanctions are described here

http://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/availableservices/codeofpractice/sanctions

I understand how disruptive it is to keep going to the Customer Service desk to report noise but it is worth it in helping to get this problem under control.

Renewals

I have several books which have been renewed 20 times now and it will not, consequently, allow me to renew online any further.  However, I still require these books for my dissertation for a few more weeks.  What are my options?

The books need to be checked by a member of staff so please bring in all the books. Take them to a member of staff at the Customer service desk (ground floor at Bedford) tell them that you have renewed the books 20 times but still need them. The member of staff will manually return the books and re-issue them. You may then renew them another 20 times unless someone else requests  them.
