I am writing to seek for possible extension of library
opening hours especially on weekdays.
Currently the library opens till 8pm on weekdays. This is
not conducive and inclusive as some students are on placement till 8pm. This
makes it impossible to access the library during such hours.
Also some students with kids find it hard to study at home
and during the day because of childcare, so night studies becomes more
convenient.
Third year students currently working on their final year
project needs longer time of study and access to access to library will go a
long away.
Prior to pandemic, library is open 24/7 using I'D access and
library staff stays till 8pm. I wonder if some students like third year
students can be given longer access to library or if the library can return to
previous opening time especially with exams round the corner.
Please, I will appreciate if can give some thoughts into and
consider the request.

Many thanks for your enquiry. I am
sympathetic to your request and can reassure you that library opening hours are
constantly under review. The University is mindful of the advice issued by
government and the safety of the University community.
As the pandemic is not over there are
many restrictions still in place. These hopefully, will change at each stage of
the government’s Roadmap. Please monitor the opening hours on offer weekly
after Easter to see if any changes may be made.
