Aylesbury

 You said

I have a number of books which I continue to renew. As your lockdown hours at Aylesbury (my local) campus are so restricted, I have been and continue to be unable to get to you to return any books. I am a social work student on placement and the 12- 6 mon to fri hours you are open are completely inaccessible. There continues to be no weekend service -  I appreciate we are working in challenging times, but could a weekend, even a two hour window? Be offered to support students who are also on weekday placements?

My renewal dates will not extend because I have “reached the maximum” number of renewals.

We said

Thank you for your email. All current loans are automatically renewed so that no-one is disadvantaged by the pandemic. If your items are not automatically renewing it could be because someone has requested the item and you are required to return it. You do not have to renew the books.

Aylesbury Campus Library has returned to its standard opening hours

Monday – Friday 8.30 – 18.00

It is the only campus to have done this.

Aylesbury campus library has never opened at the weekend and although I am sympathetic to your request I have to advise you that the University will not be considering an increase in opening hours during a pandemic.

Opening is dependent on a lot of additional issues to keep the University community safe including a robust cleaning regimen.

I am sorry to disappoint you but I am sure you understand in the circumstances.

Renewals

 You said

I am just wondering what is happening with books I currently have on loan as I believe there is a limit to how long I can have those books. How many renewals can I have before having to return? Is it strict with the rules as I live nearly 2 hours away and am worried to get caught driving that distance to return them. I am looking at potentially reserving some books to take out as well, is this still ok? Would I need to return the other ones if I take more out?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry. Due to the pandemic we are operating recurring renewals at least until April. If you are considering reserving some materials and you have reached your 20 loans limit you will need to return some before you will be able to borrow any more.

Reservations

 You said

I reserved some books online and received an email one of them is available to be picked up. On the bottom of the email, there was a sentence about picking them up three days after the date on the email. Can I confirm, can I pick them up today or do I need to wait three days? If so, can I cancel my reservations and come into the library and get them off the shelves myself as I would like to collect them this afternoon.

 We said

Thank you for your enquiry. Apologies for any confusion over the wording of your email from us.

To keep you as safe as possible we r4ecommend a 3 day pause before collecting your library books once you are told they are ready to collect. If you choose to pick them up immediately we would strongly advise washing your hands thoroughly when you get the books home and leaving them to one side for 3 days – quarantining them.

Overdue loan items

 You said

I have recently seen an email regarding some books I have out on loan. I have been having problems with this email account hence not seeing the email earlier.

Due to the pandemic I have not been able to return the books. I cannot get out to the library as I am a single parent and children are not permitted into the library. Therefore I should be able to return the books once the schools return and I can again enter the library.

I would very much appreciate it if the late fees for the books can be cancelled upon returning the books.

We said

In view of the pandemic we will resolve this issue for you. Please return the books as soon as you can. You will not be charged any fines.

Proof reading

 You said

I hope you are doing well. Just a quick question, do we have any paid or unpaid proofreading services?

We said

Provisional student

 You said

as it is nearly the end of the week now and it's (Thursday 7th of January,2021) I have no ID as it is lost and not registered fully as a student yet- so to get an id is going to take me a few more days.

The online system had not been technically working for me to renew the books straight away and pay the library as these were books from last year. I need to request you to renew my library books in question as I do need a few of them for my return and registration before February 2021 now- and it's impossible for me to do both online and on-campus without ongoing fines-so please, can you waive the fees and renew all the books, please?

We said

In view of the pandemic we will resolve this issue for you. Please complete your registration as soon as possible. You will not be charged any fines.

I have been unwell with the covid virus through out November and December and have been unable to return on of the books which I have out on loan.

All other were automatically renews but this ones wasn't as I'm guessing someone else had requested it.

As I have been unable to return a large fine has been placed on my and it has now asked me to either return or pay for the book.

I have the book and I'm now able to get out and return it but I don't know if the library is open as we are now in another lockdown.

If the library is closed - how is the best way to return the books, but also I need to renew some of the others and I am now unable too.

Hope you are able to help and give me some advice on the best course of action. If the library is open I shall return the book this week but I would also like to borrow some more books and would like to pay of my fine so I am able to do this.
