Luton Library - laptop loans

Regarding Laptops in new LRC There are constant issues with laptop for hire: First there are issues to get them out of storage which staff were unsure about, then they would not log onto wifi which staff were unsure about and laptop nor LRc handbook doesn't not tell students how to log onto the laptops system, which meant myself and peers had to keep going up and down stairs for staff to fix issues as there are no staff on each level of the library, they do not answer the phone to answer enquirers and when we do go down to first floor they do not know how to sort the issues. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE ALSO DUE TO MY MOBILITY ISSUES, i have to keep going up and down for a service which is not adequate and could be avoided.

Thank you for raising your concerns and please accept my apologies on behalf of the service for the issues you have been having
I know that getting the laptops out of their storage drawers is a bit tricky as you need to
Open the door
Unplug machine charger
Lift out the laptop with its portable power cable (attached to the top of the laptop)

Wifi: the laptop should automatically connect so you just need to physically re-start laptop by holding down the power button in for a few seconds until it logs off, re-start it and it will automatically  lgwt onto the Wifi - there is no separate process.

You are right some instructions/advice sheets would be helpful so we will create some gtting started Top Tips in the very near future

May I point out this is a free service so its not laptops for hire its laptops for loan

Please remember laptops are are portable so you could either carry the laptop to the customer service desk on level 1 or ask the member of staff to come with you to where you are working to reduce the amount of walking between floors that you may have to do with a query.
