Library catalogue screens

It would be useful if the library loans screen showed which books on a student's current borrowing list were not going to be renewed again (in advance of renewal date). i.e. to show as soon as a hold for that book is lodged on the system.

Thank you for your suggestion. The system already displays this information but you do need to log into your library account.
If a book has been requested by another customer the screen n you library account says HOLDS or has reached its 20 renewals the screen on you library account says REACHED RENEWALS LIMIT

Luton Library - cold

I'm a PhD student who frequently uses library for my research work. Whilst I'm proud to say that our university's library has amazing facilities and study areas. However, recently since weather has changed, it's very cold and seems like the heating is not being maintained according to the outside temperature. One feels like wearing heavy jackets and coats even inside the library and temperature seems very similar to outside. Could you please check this and ensure a comfortable working temperature to be
maintained in library.

Your support on this issue will be helpful for all students

Thank you for raising your concerns and I am sorry that you are finding parts of the library colder than you'd like. The library's management system is set for an ambient temperature of 19 - 23 degrees across the year. If you check the little cardboard thermometers around the library the temperature should fall between these two values if it doesn't please report it to staff on level 1 if it does fall within this range then please find a different floor to study in. We have no reported faults at the moment.
I would advise you that different part of the library are warmer than others so please vary your work station so you can find somewhere that is comfortable for you

Staff praise - ALLs

I would like to highly praise Keith in the Study Hub in the library.

I have not written an essay in over 10 years and was petrified of referencing! I went to see him and he helped me so much. I feel much more confident about my essay now and will be using the Study Hub much more as my course goes on! He was also very patient
with me as I asked lots of questions.

This kindness and compassion does not go unnoticed!

Thank you for your kind words. All the best in your academic journey

Broken link

The link to the subject guides on the following page doesn't work, its a broken link
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/digital/in-my-subject/

Many thanks for highlighting the broken link to our Subject Guides. As you may be aware the transition to a new web platform for the University’s websites over the summer caused a variety of problems which we are doing our best to identify and rectify.

As frustrating as it is for you this does actually help us. We will address this as soon as possible.

While we do this may I advise you to go through the Self Help pages.

I appreciate that this is a click heavy route (so I have picked out two key pages for your attention)

Health Subject Guide

Thank you for your help. If there’s anything else I can help you with please let me know

Luton - Staff Praise

I would like to say special thanks to Maria Marta for being very kind and helpful to me on Wednesday 25th of September 2019. She helped with the problem I had with logging on which was very complicated. She made my life easy.

We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know we're doing something right.  We look forward to serving you in the future

Sconul Access

I am an online student at the University of York,

I live locally, in Luton and wanted to ask 1) how I can get membership to the library via the SCONUL access scheme and 2) what timings will be available for me to use the library as a study space.  Also will I be able to get free WiFi?

Most likely I would like to use the library early mornings from around 7am - 9am, and also wanted to ask what parking, if any, is available?

Thank you for your enquiry

Please check with York about getting authorisation to use the Sconul Access scheme

Once you have authorisation all the details you need about applying to the University of Bedfordshire are on our website

Term and conditions of membership are here

University of Bedfordshire does not provide parking. Public car park parks are available with easy walking distance.

Please not that once we received your application form it takes 15 working days to process
