Luton Library noise

There's too much noise in the library. Please find a way to control noise within the library. Phones are ringing and people are answering phones and talking all the time. At least mobile calls should be banned in the library. Phones should be on silent mode

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you cannot immediately find the study environment you want. The library has a variety of study spaces so by definition some areas will always be noisy. There are no silence requirements enforceable for these areas.

There are plenty of spaces that offer silent study namely the Silent Study Rooms on levels 4, 5 & 6. These have the specifications noted in your comments. Please relocate to one of those rooms. I am sure they will meet your study style.

Resources

  1. Is it possible to arrange access to electronic resources via https://www.igi-global.com/ which is excellent for the use in IT, Software, Hardware and Networking fields. I am too broke to pay £1800 per book (3 in total) in the "Wireless Technology (ISBN13: 9781613501016)" or £30 per chapter.

Thank you for your enquiry. Is this resource the only material useful for your research? We have materials in stock which may be able to help you. Why not contact your Academic Liaison Librarian for some advice and research tips?

  1. Computers are getting to slow.  It takes long to download or upload documents.  Thanks
Thank you for raising your concerns. I will forward it to our IT team. Networked PCs always take longer than personal machines. The Bedford PCs have a lot more software to load too.

Luton - study environment

I am increasingly disgusted at the state of the desks and keyboards in the library. They look like they have not been cleaned in ages and are so filthy that there are times when i have to wipe them off before I am able to start work.

In addition to the general dirt, this morning I booked L410 for a group study session. Of the 6 PCs in the room, 3 had log in screens available.the other 3, (L410-001; L410-005 & L410-004) had screens that would not turn on or showed no vidoe input and L410-006 had a keyboard with broken 'feet'.

Whilst I appreciate that the desks and PCs can not be repeatedly cleaned throughtout the day, please could you explain why the library facilities look like they ahve not been cleaned in weeks? Please coul you also pass on to the relevant IT support team the issues mentioned regarding computer accessibility.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for raising your concerns. May I reassure you the library has a cleaning programme to maintain the study environment and it has a code of conduct to guide customers as to what is regarded as acceptable behaviours.

This is a  joint effort to keep the library in excellent condition. Unfortunately there are a few customers who do not take these requirements seriously. There are sanctions in place where necessary

I am disappointed to read about the PCs in L410 I will report this fault and get it resolved. In the unfortunate event you come across any equipment that doesn't work in the library please report it to the Customer Service desk on level 1 so something can be done about it straight away.

Are you using DISCOVER or the library catalogue to find materials? If you are not then you explicitly need to use either of these tools to give you access to the material you need. Do not Google it.
