You will need to complete an application form and submit a passport style photos

You will not have remote access to any digital resources but a large number of our digital resources are now available to use on Campus via guest Wifi

If you require further information please do not hesitate to contact me

External Customers

I'm not a student but would like to use the library space to study and review management journals.

I am currently studying towards a HR qualification - Advanced Certificate in Human Resource Management.

I have read your page on external customers but im not sure which would apply to my situation.

Thank you for your enquiry

It depends whether you wish to borrow books or not - if not a Reference membership at £30 per year would be your best choice

Thanks

Alumnus - Graduate accounts and library membership

I recently graduated and I would like to come and save some work I saved in my student area to disc. How long will my account be active for?

Secondly, I've enrolled on a distance learning BA at Staffordshire Uni, is there a way I could use the library at Bedford to assist with my studies as I am still living locally.

Thanks for contacting Learning Resources. You will have access to your Bedfordshire accounts until 1.10.16 I would advise you save to a USB not a CD
http://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/whoweare/leavers

Ask Staffordshire about Sconul Access membership. If you have the rights and apply you can apply to Bedfordshire once you have your email of authorisation

Or, depending on what kind of access you want from 1.10.16 you may apply for Alumnus membership of Learning Resources.

Luton Library PC provision

have been to the new library and I keep failing to find adequate space to study, too many computers in the work stations and no room left for me to put my books on the desk. Feels very cramped. Hope it's just because it's still a work in progress and in the end some computers will be moved to their rightful places or there will be more room for my books on the table

I am so glad that you have started to use the new library on Luton Campus. it will take a while to get completely au fait with the layout and study environment available. Have you had a tour? Its really worthwhile - staff can point out the different areas to help you find the places that suit your style of learning.

The library offers several kinds of PC provision.
Singly
In pairs
Standard ie with space for books and portable devices
Concentrated ie PCs very close together (usually on circular tables)

I would suggest that the single study spaces or standard study spaces would suit you best. Why not look at level 3 and above (ie 4,5 & 6) to see the different offers on those floors.

I hope that helps

MACs Luton Library

Got a couple of Tweets about the MACs at Luton Library:

we'll have the apple MACs been changed? I'm sorry but a MAC monitor with a Windows keyboard and mouse isn't on, half commitment

Don't the MACs work? Are you talking about the machines on level 6?

yes but what use are Windows keyboards to media students who use MAC keyboards for shortcuts to make editing easier?

The new MACs were delivered with wireless mice and keyboards. Learning Resources has experienced a lot of theft of MAC peripherals in the past couple of years so it was decided not to put the wireless equipment out but replace them with "wired" mice and keyboards. When the replacements arrive they will be swapped out for the temporary Windows peripherals.
If however, the MAC keyboards and mice are stolen then Learning Resources may have to review whether MAC peripherals are made available at all. The Windows keyboard will work like a MAC keyboard but you have to use a different key. Please ask at the Customer Service desk if you require assistance with this.
