Luton Library Lockers

We cannot use the lockers from ground floor of LRC. They don't work. Since the library was opened we cannot use the lockers We want to use the lockers.

When the library was being commissioned there were problems with our locker supplier. Its taken a long time but we're hoping these issues will be resolved over the summer and the lockers should be available for use in October.

Luton Library temperatures

this is to let you know that myself and several other students have come to the library at Park Square to study today, and have found that all the study rooms and areas with thermometers are showing 27 degrees upwards.
We are unable to find any cool and ventilated areas to study in. Please could you look into this as the library is a fantastic resource to use but becoming unbearable in this hotter weather.

Thank you for airing your concerns I have alerted our Facilities team who will be looking into it.

Refworks

This is the daftest question ever I know.  But how can I access refworks through the library website / library catalogue?

I distinctly remember a shortcut…..

No question is daft do bless you for asking… Like many things there is more than one way to access Refworks

1.      Library Catalogue
http://library.beds.ac.uk/search/Y?searchtype=Y&searcharg=refworks&SORT=D&searchscope=20
1.      LRWeb
       New Refworks

     Old Refworks

     I hope this helps

VLE Problems

As a part time mature student working full-time hours it is most infuriating when there are persistent issues accessing online resources.
Not only are there issues (I believe won't be fixed for another month!) in which we are no longer able to open and read online most journals (an issue I believe is unacceptable) I have wasted 2 hours of my valuable study time today attempting to access online e-books via VLE and I am unable to. The university promotes the importance to plan and timetable study time to ensure successful results. This I agree is extremely important, more so for those like myself who have equal study pressure as full-time students but have the responsibilities of working and family commitments to factor in to our timetables. Therefore when your key study resource is unavailable during the period you have scheduled for crucial studying it is not only infuriating as previously stated it is also extremely stressful.
Furthermore, if there is an ongoing issue it would be more than helpful to be informed about this.

Thank you for contacting LRSE with the problems you have been experiencing. I can only apologise on behalf of our supplier. This problem began during the weekend – login to VLE books was not working correctly and our students are getting stuck in a login page loop.

The problem was reported on our Digital Library blog on MOnday and also featured in a Tweet which was displayed on the front page of LRWeb.

The supplier looked into it and it was fixed later on Monday please try again.

Do let us know if there are any more problems

Sconul Access

I am about to start my third year at the University of Winchester in Hampshire. I am currently studying source material for my dissertation and I wondered if it was entirely possible for me to use your services while studying during summer break. If possible, please contact me at this email address and let me know.

Thank you for your enquiry. Check with Winchester to see if you are eligible for Sconul Access membership. If you are please apply through that scheme.

Once you have your authorisation email please apply to the University of Bedfordshire for membership. The application form is on this page

Our Code of Practice is here

The University of Bedfordshire does not operate the Sconul Vacation scheme. Students from other institutions are directed to apply for Sconul Access membership due to swipe access at Luton Campus Library and Bedford Campus Library. There is no access without a visitors membership card.

Visitor Complaint

Disappointed that library staff at the University of Beds are not flexible in allowing SCONUL approved student to use library space despite ample suggestions of how to validate student's authenticity and history of academic excellence and community work #notthatnice

Thank you for your post. I am bit bewildered as to what the problem is - as your membership ran out in 2013 have you got your new Sconul Access email of authentication? Secondly have you followed our process on our website? https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/.../external-users/categories
I have reviewed your visit on Monday 4 June where I note that you used your mother's ID to come into the library and as a consequence you were issued with a written warning. This has nothing to do with flexibility and is a clear case of going against the University's Code of Conduct. This will not allow Visitor membership to the University's library.

Visitors

I am currently a student at Durham university and I live near the Luton library, and I am emailing to see if I am able to use the library?
Any information would be great!

Thank you for your enquiry. All the details are on our website. If Durham is part of the Sconul Access scheme you may apply using that route

If not we have some paid membership options
