Luton: Study Environments

The silent study area, downstairs, near the 'Art and Design' bookshelves is not clearly marked as 'Silent'. Am i wrong in thinking this is silent when the door used to enter this area says 'Silent Area'?. Many times students sit here to have group discussions and i have noticed the students who are trying to work in silence are disrupted, including me. As there is no staff here, they cannot keep an eye on this. I suggest putting up more signs to say it is a silent area as just outside the door, we have a very nice area for group work. ~Many thanks

There is no Silent Study near the Art & Design books at Luton LRC. Silent Study is located and clearly signposted on levels 2 & 3 of Luton LRC
Levels 2 & 3 of the Luton LRC are the silent floors. No amount of talking is acceptable. Phone conversations are supposed to take place on the landing outside the lifts. I appreciate that when library staff are on duty you can report noise problems directly. During staffed hours there are staff patrols approx every half hour and the area is electronically monitored for noise.

Overnight the study environment is monitored by security. Please report your concerns to them.
