I have been having problems with the university online services for more than a month. I now cannot access the online library. Can someone please help me with this?
I have checked your accounts and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with them. Have you typed your password in correctly (sorry but its as well to check). Are you using a laptop if yes what browser are you using on your laptop?Chrome or internet explorer are recommended.
Are you going into the digital library via:
library.beds.ac.uk
or DISCOVER
http://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/help/digital
these are the only two routes you should be using. If you are trying to access the digital library via BREO there may be a problem with the BREO link into the catalogue.
If you are still having problems please talk to staff at the Customer Service desk if you are on Campus. If you are away from Campus please ring in

Internet connectivity
Why is the University of Bedfordshire Polhill Campus internet service so unreliable? We pay fee for a service that is unreliable
Thanks for your comment I do understand how frustrating it must be to have an unreliable internet connection. ICT did a huge amount of maintenance work 11 July - 14 July and unfortunately that has left a few glitches to iron out.
I understand that internet connectivity is more stable on the Learning Resources PCs and I would advise that you use them pro temp
Staff will be able to give you local advice on WiFi hotspots at Bedford LIbrary, please ask at the customer service desk.

External customers' loan allowance
I am a postgraduate student studying for a Masters in English Literature. I am currently doing some
research for my final dissertation project on the novels of Jane Austen.
I have an Associate Library Access Card for the University
of Bedfordshire, to allow me access to the library and its resources. I visited yesterday to borrow some books, and found
that I was limited to borrowing a maximum of 4 books.
I understand that not being a University of Bedfordshire
student, I am not entitled to the full borrowing allowance of 20 books, but I
wondered due to the nature of my research, if it would be possible to increase
the number of books I am allowed to borrow at any one time? The library has a
lot of books relating to Jane Austen, and I would like to utilise these if
possible.
Any advice you can provide on this matter would be much
appreciated.
Many thanks for your enquiry. Within the
terms of the Sconul Access scheme all our external associate members have the
same loan allowances. It is set into our Library Management System. I am sorry I cannot extend your loan
entitlement.

ICT downtime
Why are the computers not letting us log in?
Thank you for your note over the weekend
All university networks were down from 8pm Friday 11 July to 8am
Monday 14 July.
There were 2 all student emails last week advising students
about this disruption. There were fliers in the LRC and there was a notice on
LRWeb. I am sorry you missed this information.
This downtime was for essential network improvements and
maintenance
Bedford Library Snack Machine
We need a vending machine with snacks in (Bedford)
Thank you for your enquiry. We are looking into the possibilities of vending snacks at the Bedford Library. Space is a major issue along with adequate food and packaging disposal facilities so this request will be dealt with by our Facilities department
In the mean time please remember that there are snack machines elsewhere on Campus at Bedford. Please note hot food is not allowed anywhere in the library.
Sconul Vacation Scheme
I am doing a dissertation
module at the Oxford Brookes University.
I do not know if you allow
students from other UK universities to use your Library facilities. I am
interested in using the library to study and write my dissertation. Kindly let
me know if this is a possibility as it would be very helpful to me since I live
in Aylesbury and your 24/7 library time is very attractive and would help me
immensely.
Thank you for your enquiry. Do you have an Oxford
Brookes ID card? If yes you may use University of Bedfordshire Learning
Resources as a part of the Sconul Access Vacation Scheme.
Please check with Oxford Brookes
We have information here:
The Sconul Vacation scheme is available
during University of Bedfordshire's summer vacation only. That means June 14th
to October 4th 2014. You will need your home University id card at all times.
Due to swipe access at Luton LRC and
Bedford Library you are advised to apply for Summer Reference access to enable
unmediated access. You will need a passport style photo for this. Without a
Summer Reference membership card you will not have access post 18.00.
Walk in access only, for students from
institutions that do not support Eduroam. Reference access to print stock. Will
need swipe access passes at Luton and Bedford.
If you need access beyond 4 October it
would be worth applying for a Sconul Access card. Please check with Oxford
Brookes.
If not you may pay for Reference or
Associate access information here
24/7 x 365 library access is available at
our Bedford Library or Luton LRC Aylesbury’s opening times are here:

Alumnus
I used to be a student and graduated in 2011 and was
wondering whether I would be still eligible for access to the library
resources.
I am currently studying on a Post graduate course at another
university.
As I used to be a student and the university to which I
originally applied for could no longer take me on I was wondering whether I
could gain access to the library resources to help my academic work.
We have information for Alumni on our web site LRWeb
As a graduate of the University of Bedfordshire you are welcome to apply
for membership of Learning Resources
Alumnus Reference Membership is Free - no loans
Alumnus Associate Membership – which allows borrowing - is £30 per annum
You may use the Guest WiFi network on your own laptop. Or you may use
the Guest PC (one in each LRC) on a first come first served basis the application Form on LRWeb
I hope that helps
