Accessing electronic resources

Do I have access to Athens through your library? I am mainly using Dawsonera, but some newer books for pgce are not available at dawson?

Athens is an authentication system that allows you to access the electronic resources your

library subscribes to from anywhere in the world. You may have had an Athens username

and password at a previous institution to access the resources that library subscribed to.

Here at the University of Bedfordshire we use an alternative authentication system, the UK

Access Management Federation, which has superseded Athens in the Higher Education

community.

You might still come across Athens when talking to colleagues in other sectors such as the

NHS or other universities; this is because they have chosen to use Athens as their

authentication system. The main thing to remember is that Athens is not a collection of

resources; it’s just an alternative route to accessing the resource the University of

Bedfordshire subscribes to.

The UK Access Management Federation is an authentication system used by many

Universities that provides an alternative access route to the resources we subscribe to.

Some resources (Dawsonera ebooks, TRILT, ZETOC Alerts) can only be accessed using

this system.
