The weather has been very hot recently and still is but the problem is that it's hotter in the library. There is no air circulation or any type of cool air. People are having breathing problems in the library. We can't do out work. It's gone so bad that people are bringing their own fans. Worst part is we noticed there is no AC in the whole building but when we went into the staff bookable room they were well air conditioned. Could you please fix this.
I sympathise with your discomfort - the staff are melting too. Please do not plug in personal fans as this could adversely affect our power supply. If security or staff see a fan they will ask you to switch it off and unplug it. The problem has been reported and has been dealt with. In a couple of hours the building should get to a more comfortable temperature

Luton Library temperature
The air conditioning at the fourth floor is too strong I'm not able to stay more than min in there because I'm shaking. Can you please adjust it?
The building management system for the library is set between 19 - 23 degrees centigrade, when temperatures fall between those values there is nothing I can do to adjust it.
As it is so hot outside the cooling system is doing its best to find a temperature that suits eveyone. May I advise you to move to another floor if the 4th floor is too cold? There are silent rooms on the 5th and 6th floors.

Sconul Access
I'm a student at the University of Leicester and have Sconul access to the University of Northampton. Would I be able to access the Bedford campus library with either of these cards or would I have to apply for sconul access to be allowed to use your facilities over the next couple of months?
As you already have your email of authorisation from Sconul Access you need to apply to University of Bedfordshire for membership all the details and application form are on our website
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/membership/external-users
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/membership/external-users/categories
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/membership/external-users/codeofpractice
It can take up to 10 working days to process your application (on receipt) so please ensure your complete the form and send your photograph promptly. When you collect your membership card you will need to bring your Leicester ID

I am a student that's currently studying at the university
of sheffield, however I am currently living at home over the summer.
I was wondering if it was at all possible to use the library
studies spaces whilst I was at home for my resit exam coming up in
August?
It would seem to me that you are eligible for Sconul Access membership
please apply for authorisation from Sconul Access (Sheffield should have the
details for you) then go through our membership process
https://lrweb.beds.ac.uk/libraryservices/membership/external-users/codeofpractice
Sorry this is a bit clunky and slow (it can take up to 10 working days
to process your application) but we have swipe access to our libraries so you
need full Sconul Access membership

Library Service query
Will you please be able to tell me how many grace periods
students will get after the due date for library books have gone?and form what day will library fine apply? How much is a library fine per book per day?
Also, if there is a book that the university library (in all
campuses) does not have, will students be able to request it to be bought by
the university library, to be then available in the library itself? and if yes,
to who do they make requests to?
I hope you will help with the queries.
Many thanks for your enquiry. All the
information you need is on our web site.
Grace periods, follow this link and
click on the Fines paragraph heading
Once an item is due you get the grace
period of 7 days for a standard loan and 3 days for a 7 day loan. If you renew
an item then the grace period applies to the new due date.
Fines are applied from:
day 8 standard loans 50p per item
ay 4 7 day loans 75p per item.
Overnight loan have no grace period
and the fine is applied as soon as the book is overdue £1
The fine is per book not per day.
If a final year or post graduate
student needs a book that is not stocked in the University library they may use
the Document Supply services
If a first or second year student
says they need an item from outside the library’s collection then they need to
contact their academic liaison librarian as the library holds materials for
every course taught at the University
I hope this answers all your queries.

Library Catalogue 30.6.18
I am trying to complete my assignment which is due in on
Tuesday night but the whole library catalogue and discover is down. Someone has
just screenshotted me that there are works going on today and tomorrow and it
will be down? Which was posted on your twitter page 18 hours ago that's not
enough notice. This is really not fair to people that have assignments due in
next week. Especially as we all work part time :( Please can you sort this as I
am getting really upset and stressed about this now.
Thank you for your email. I am sorry
you were having problems with the library catalogue. Please can you tell me what message you got
when accessing DISCOVER and the Library Catalogue this weekend.
Please can you send me the screen
shot of the reported DISCOVER and Library Catalogue downtime Twitter message as there was no
reported downtime this weekend. There were problems 23 – 25 June but not 30
June & 1 July.
