Single sign on
It would be good to have single sign on for all systems.
There is no Student Portal at the moment which is why there isn't a true single sign on yet. The University has one username and password for all University accounts namely:
library
BREO
University email
Print/Photocopy
Network
except your Student Record which for security reasons (which I am sure you understand) has to stand outside this. When the University portal project is complete then there will be a true single sign on process.
Butterfield - wifi
Wifi at Butterfield needs attention - cannot log on.
Thank you for your comments about the wifi at Butterfield
At peak times wifi connectivity falls off simply due to high levels of use. Most people have at least two devices logged onto the wifi which has a big impact on general connectivity
I will draw this problem to the attention of our IT team and see if anything can be done to improve it.
Butterfield - Noisy study environment
Resources at Butterfield are excellent, but can get very noisy at times, which is distracting
Thanks for contacting me. I have noted your comments about Butterfield being noisy.
Due to the space restrictions at Butterfield Learning Resources cannot provide the range of study environments it would like to. As a consequence the LRC can get rather noisy at busy times
May I suggest that you come into Luton and use the LRC there? The LRC is open 24/7 365. That's 168 hours of study space available to you all year - that includes Bank Holidays and other University closure days. Levels 2 & 3 of Luton LRC are silent study floors and this may suit your study style.
Butterfield - parking
So far my experience has been good (1st year). Staff at Butterfield are very helpful. Parking a bit of a problem! Library staff great, but library too noisy!!
Thank you for your kind words about the Butterfield team. We are here to help you whenever you need it.
I am sorry about the parking situation at Butterfield I will forward your comments to Facilities to comment on.
As space is an issue at Butterfield we cannot provide the variety of learning environments we would like to. May I suggest that you come into Luton and use the LRC there? The LRC is open 24/7 365. Bedford building work
Library (2nd) being closed during first week back?
I am really sorry that the 2nd floor isn't ready for use this week. The work at Bedford Library will continue for most of this week
The 2nd floor silent study space should open Monday 14 October - please check local signage in case its sooner.
Staff at the Customer Service Desk are happy to collect print materials for you on request
Learning Resources apologies for the inconvenience it is hoped that the completed work will benefit students.
Please come to the official launch Tuesday 15 October at 16.00
More recent edition
I wonder if you can help? I have been told to read
Walker, J. & Crawford, K. (2010) Social Work and Human Development,
3rd edt, Exeter, Learning Matters. I can only find the 2007 version
in the library catalogue. Is there any possibility this book is available
or if not can be made available asap in the library?
There are currently 8 copies of the book you're after on order.
The order system says these books are at the 'distribution
centre' which means the next stop should be the shelves.
I reckon if you try the library catalogue again in approximately
5 days they may be here by then,
Hope that helps,
